I haven't had much to report over the last few months on the search for Sharon's identity. The trail had run cold with no new leads, until yesterday, when I spoke with Joe Stegall, a high school classmate of Sharon's at Forest Park. Joe reached out to me about a month ago, and we finally connected on the phone.
Joe had a crush on Sharon and relayed many of the similar experiences others described in their releationships with Sharon, especially her quick exit from phone calls whenever Floyd was around. But it was during those calls to Sharon's home that Joe said something interesting - he could hear a toddler in the background. When Joe asked Sharon who it was she said it was her "little brother." According to Joe, the child was there in the house for some time, perhaps weeks, since he could hear him whenever he was on the phone with Sharon. I have no idea who the boy was or why he was in the home. It wasn't Michael, who was born two years later in 1988. Could the child have been another one of Floyd's victims and awaiting transfer or sale to someone else, much like Floyd sold Sharon's other children? I dont' know. It's just a guess. Joe also mentioned that Sharon's son, Michael Anthony, was most likely named after Michael Anthony, the bassist in Sharon's favorite band, Van Halen.

I thought sharons son Michael may have been named after the Michael johnson who was believed to be her father if she was in fact Sherri Lynn. Throughout your book I always wondered if the police ever showed sharons photo as a child on the tv,papers, surely a mother or father would see their lost or stolen child and make contact?

Sharon's story was featured on Unsolved Mysteries and a CourtTV show The Ivestigators. Both were equally chilling in my opinion, especially with the ominous music, which only adds to the number of hairs standing up on the back of your neck when examining Sharon's story. But as always, TV shows tend to skimp on the intricate details. You want the heart of any true crime story, then get the book!

I also went to high school with Sharon. We were in the gifted program together. Sharon was very pregnant on our graduation day in June 1986. Does anyone know what became of that child? It definitely isn't Michael because she was only a couple of months from delivering this child in June of 1986 and Michael was not born until 1988.

I am reading Matt's book "a Beautiful child" right now. I'm about 70% done with it. Sharon had a baby before and after Michael. Both were given up for adoption. Michael was the only baby she kept. So many details in the book I do not remember where she had the baby but I do believe it was a girl and adopted out.

I read this book a few years ago. I was heartbroken at the horror this woman lived through, and poor Michael as well. I find myself searching for updates in the case, hoping that it has been solved. Hoping that there was a family looking for her.

Are there any more updates on this case? I read the book in about 2 days and it is absolutely devastating. That poor girl and her son (along with Cheryl and I am certain many many more) who were so unfortunate to be near this horrible man. Prayers and sympathy to those who were lost and to those having lost these individuals.

If not sure the two vials of blood were Sharon's, some of the failed matches may have been related. Why not exhume her body and get her DNA? Floyd says Sharon's other children were adopted out, but no paper trail? We can only hope they were mot abused by him and then killed. What a monster.

In 1975 there were 2 girls from Montgomery County MD that were abducted. Franklin Floyd was in Fairfax Virginia which is close to Wheaton Plaza where the girls went missing. From murderpedia: March 25, 1975, day when Sheila, 12, and Katherine Lyon, 10, went missing as they walked to Wheaton Plaza in Montgomery County.
